I didn't see him, and I was there all night.

Also, I'm annoyed. I bought one of those cheesy DVDs, and it won't play on my computer DVD player. It was only $10, but still. Annoying.

It looked like Korpiklaani was bootlegging their own shows or something because they had a shoddy-ass looking dvd at their table. So it was probably the lead singer at home on his fuckin' computer burning a thousand dvds before the tour  At least that's the hillarious vision in my head.

If that's the case it may only play on the PAL (European) system and everyone who bought one will have the same complaint!
Anyone know how long the KORP. set was? Here in Van it is said that they didn't play a whole set. Just wondering what sort of time they had there, maybe it was the same.

PAL DVDs should play in a computer's DVD player... It might be slightly stretched / have extra crap at the bottom of the screen though.

What program are you using to watch it spinifex? Try Media Player Classic if you're on a Windows OS.

I have Macs at home, I'll try them at work.

And they're Region 1 DVDs. It's not a region error, it's a 'I put the DVD in the drive, it whirrs for a minute, and spits it back out' error

I also did not see chainmail dude. I was kinda bummed, for some reason I get a kick out of his getup.

I was pleasantly surprised by White Wizzard...one of the guys I went with said they were an Iron Maiden ripoff as if it were a bad thing? I will be checking these guys out.

Swashbuckle is kinda funny, because with the costumes you expect them to be an uber cheesy Alestorm type sound, but they actually are really straightforward (thrashy punk? I don't know how to classify it). On the other hand, they sounds dildoes :(

Loved Tyr. It felt as though their set was not long enough, but they were still really solid. I counted 7 (as opposed to 8 ) strings on Jeri's guitar, didn't get a good look at the other guitarist though.

It was entertaining how incredibly wasted Korpiklaani's frontman was. I don't think their sound was that bad, but I guess I have a special attachment to them because of some off the hook folk metal parties that happened in Portland in prior years. I was really bummed that no one was doing jigs though, such a shame :(

That brings me to my final point - I'll join in condemning the red shirted meatheads overdoing the mosh. I engage in moshing myself when the time is right, but taking it out of the pit and the willing participants and into the people on the sides trying to stay out is hella lame. I also seem to recall seeing the same group of guys at another show and hearing that they were in some white power Asatru group or something? Fuck those guys, they're the type that make people think all metalheads are violent morons.

Oh, some more on those DVDs for sale.

They are from Billzebub Productions, and they're apparently 'documentaries' in the widest sense of the word. I got the problem disk to play at work, my home DVD player on my Mac just seems to be flaky. OTOH, it's not exactly work safe material.

From what I saw (I only watched a few minutes at work), the interviews and live performances are OK, but he added some commentary that I thought was really juvenile, like 'Hope you're not too gay for this content!' or something equally stupid. Good to know - I had no idea that Folk Metal was only for straight folk. :|

Eh, it was only $10, and it helps bands I like on tour so not that much of a loss if I can't watch it at home.

Oh, they're Bill Zebub dvds? that explains it... that guy hasn't put out anything worth a shit on dvd

And Goddess, security was watching. To be fair, they were only pissing off people outside the pit because they were fucking pricks, but no one was getting into any fights and no one got hurt.

Yeah, I don't think it was to the level where security could get involved. If they did everytime someone got annoyed at someone else at a show it would be a total lockdown.

This was my first experience with them, and yeah - they're pretty crap. But hey - now I know to avoid them in the future!

I think I would have liked it better if it was a Korpi bootleg :)

Then it would be like El Corazon, they'll have security rush you and throw you face first into the pavement.

So, did anyone else get another souvenir from the show? Namely, a case of a cold that settles in the lungs and/or sinuses?

Out of the 7 friends who I saw at the show and who hung out in the upstairs section; 4 or 5 of us are now sick. One thinks that the vector was the bartender, as we all got drinks from upstairs (they all had alcohol, I had sodas). Among our circle, we have been referring to it as 'Korpicrud'. Either others got affected as well, or we are all phenomenally unlucky.

I was happy with my T-shirt and silly DVDs as souvenirs, I didn't need this as well. :(

(And now, despite being sick and missing today at work, I'm doped up on DayQuil and coffee so I can study, because I can't miss school tomorrow.)

I've heard of other folks (under 21) getting sick after this show too.. Sounds like someone was spreading something around at the show.

Huh.

While it's not good that others got the same bastard of a virus, it's good to confirm that it's not isolated. Thanks.

Interesting. I got sick starting tues. morning and felt pretty shitty for the next couple days. Had two drinks from the bar as well...

I had been blaming it on the Portland show, because I was super loaded at that one and it was extra tight and sweaty in there. Plus we were boozing it up in a bunch of nasty titty bars. Sorry to bad-mouth you, Portland whores!

Anyway, Týr was the only band worth a shit on that tour, and they were killer both nights. Same set both nights except in Portland they also played Whiskey in the Jar at Jeremiah's request.

My girlfriend got sick, that was probably from me though, but she seemed to have gotten worse after the show. Some of her friends that were there got sick as well.

If anyone has the gumption someone might want to call the health inspector to make sure the glass washer was working. Or perhaps the taps/pipes weren't clean. I had a similar thing happen in Van a few years ago at the Brickyard and they were not using hot water - a lot of people got sick. After that I started ordering bottles from that place.

Do you know what type of sickness they got, like what the symptoms were?

Thanks!

If a large number of folks under 21 got sick, that wouldn't be it. They only have bottled drinks downstairs. It's pretty easy to spread germs at crowded shows. We got H1N1 at Motorhead.

My wife and I both attended that show, and have the same sickness as described.
